The past few months have been particularly hard for the elderly, especially because many seniors were unable to meet their children and grandchildren, Poland s prime minister wrote in a letter published on Monday.

This difficult period, however, is drawing to an end. Finally, we have an effective weapon, the vaccine, to fight the virus, PM Morawiecki said, adding that following Poland s healthcare workers, You are the first in the line to receive the jab. It is the government s duty to protect those most at risk by the epidemic, he stressed.

The prime minister recalled that the vaccine is free of charge, and available to everyone. All the applicants need to do is register at one of the vaccination points. Elderly people can sign up starting from 15 January, with a large-scale vaccination campaign beginning on 25 January.

Speaking to the elderly, he said the vaccine had been developed by the best experts in the world. „Thanks to the vaccination, you can return to your normal lives and meet your family and friends without fear. I encourage you to take this opportunity; together we can overcome the pandemic. The more people get the vaccine, the faster we get rid of the virus. It benefits you, your children and your grandchildren,” he wrote.

I am confident that through the National Immunisation Programme, everyone will soon be able to return to a life they desire; one which is safer, calmer and healthier, the Polish premier concluded.
