Due to the pandemic situation, educational institutions can be reopened in mid-April at the earliest, when the number of people inoculated exceeds 2.5 million, the Hungarian prime minister s office chief has said. He emphasized that teachers would be inoculated before schools and kindergartens are reopened.

The arrival of EU vaccine deliveries continues to be uncertain, but thanks to the Chinese and Russian shipments, more vaccines will be available in Hungary in April than ever before, Gergely Gulyas told his regular press briefing on Thursday.

„In Hungary, according to the pandemic measures currently in effect, kindergartens are closed and schools have switched to online education. The reopening of educational institutions will be possible on 12 or the 19 April at the earliest, when the number of people vaccinated in the country according to the plan will have exceeded 2.5 million,” the minister said.

He emphasized that teachers would be inoculated before the reopening of the institutions, adding that the vaccine is voluntary and registration-based, so he asked staff at schools and kindergartens to register in order to receive the jab.
