"They consider me a homophobic homosexual, because I say that heterosexuals are discriminated against in our society today," Mauro Coruzzi, one of Italy s most popular drag queens says.

„Gays must also be tolerant,” Mauro Coruzzi, one of Italy s popular drag queens told Libero in a recent interview.

Coruzzi has often been a target for LGBTQ organisations because he refuses to be politically correct and speaks his mind about society. „Gay individuals, whose social acceptence I d been fighting for even before they were born now label me a homophobic homosexual,” he said. In his view, viewing gender identity as part of an ideology makes it a problem affecting everyone. It also has an adverse effect on the perception of sexual minorities, and could potentially trigger violence.

„My first performance with a transvestite group took place in the seventies. They tossed tomatoes at me at the Festival dell Unita when I was still a suburban showgirl. Now that these things no longer happen, I have to say that we have not only won the fight for the rights of sexual minorities, but we have finally achieved dignity. LGBTQ organisations constantly want to crucify me because I don t adhere to political correctness; I want to be able to call myself a „fag” or a „bitch” at any time, and to say that my biggest erotic dream is to conquer a heterosexual man without being pounced on by a dozen NGOs accusing me of homophobia,” Coruzzi said.

The performing artist is also opposed to the propagation of gender theory in schools.

„Including gender theory in school curricula is a kind of violence against heterosexuals and leads to bigger problems, such as surrogate motherhood, because schools push a certain worldview to children who may, as a result, become confused,” he explained.

Regarding the proposed Italian legislation on the protection of sexual minorities, he said „no law can effect greater acceptance for people s sexual orientation in society, so it would be more advantageous to focus on the behaviour of sexual minorities instead.”

During his interview, Coruzzi strongly criticized the Democratic Party and its leader. He thinks Enrico Letta is experienced when it comes to the functioning of Italy s public institutions, but he s lost touch with reality by pushing homosexual and illegal immigrant rights, as well as the issue of granting automatic Italian citizenship to children born in Italy to migrant parents (the so-called Ius Soli ).

„If homosexual couples want equality, why don t they fight for adoption instead of surrogacy, which I think is an institutionalized embodiment of violating a woman. Is it equality for a trans to be able to compete with women in the Olympics? There is a limit to everything, and to equality as well. The laws of nature also apply, so I do not support transgender women competing with born women,” said the transvestite artist.
