Ship already sinking when inaugurated by minister – video

A beautiful stationary vessel inaugurated in the presence of the labour minister has filled up with water and sunk just a few days later. According to a report published by a Hungarian press outlet in Romania, the water was already pouring in at the time of the inaugural ceremony, but the officials only seemed interested in cutting the ribbon.

A disused stationary ship was repurposed for disabled children and was inaugurated in the presence of Labour Minister Raluca Turcan at the end of September in Mahmudia, Romania. As the Hungarian language Romanian news portal Foter.ro reported, following the festivities, first there were difficulties in recruiting staff, and a short time later, this problem became a mute point, for the vessel sank.

Later, it turned out that due to a pump malfunction, water was already leaking into the boat when the officials were ceremoniously cutting the ribbon – but no one cared at the time.

Now, the creators of the project are looking for experts to help with lifting the vessel out of the water.

“As fate would have it: a few days after their inauguration, the new government led by Florin Citu also sprang a leak…,” Foter.ro summarised the story with an analogy.

Meanwhile, humorous videos and compilations of the sinking are appearing in the Romanian press, some of which include footage of the ship going under edited with background music from the popular soundtrack of the movie Titanic.
